Boiler Clearance & Ventilation Safety
Give your boiler room to breathe.
Licensed & Insured Gas-Certified Technicians Serving Vancouver Since 1999
Combi boilers need clearance around them for safe operation, servicing access and adequate airflow. Storing items against or on top of the boiler, or blocking air vents, can interfere with combustion air and create hazards.
Keep the area clear, and never store flammable materials near the appliance.
Keep it safe
- Maintain manufacturer-specified clearances
- Don't store boxes, chemicals or laundry against the boiler
- Keep air vents and the flue terminal unobstructed
- Don't enclose the boiler without proper ventilation
- Leave room for a technician to service it
This is not a DIY repair
Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
