Why Annual Boiler Servicing Matters
The cheapest insurance against breakdowns and safety risks.
An annual service is the single most effective thing you can do to keep your combi boiler safe, reliable and efficient. A licensed technician checks combustion, inspects the heat exchanger and flue, verifies safety devices, and catches small problems before they become expensive breakdowns or safety hazards.
Most manufacturers also require annual servicing to keep the warranty valid — so skipping it can cost you twice.
What an annual service includes
- Combustion analysis with a flue-gas analyzer
- Inspection of the heat exchanger and burner
- Flue and venting check
- Verification of safety controls and pressure
- Cleaning and condensate trap check
- Confirmation of correct gas pressure
When to book
Late summer or early autumn is the ideal time to service your boiler — before the heating season starts and before the winter rush. Booking ahead means you're not waiting for a service during the coldest weeks.
This is not a DIY repair
Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
