Using a Combi Boiler With Underfloor Heating
Low-temperature comfort that suits condensing boilers perfectly.
Underfloor heating runs at lower water temperatures than radiators, which is ideal for condensing combi boilers — they're most efficient when return temperatures are low. The combination delivers gentle, even warmth and excellent efficiency.
Mixing valves and controls are needed to manage the lower temperatures correctly.
What to consider
- Low-temperature operation maximises condensing efficiency
- A mixing/blending valve manages floor temperatures
- Zoning lets you control rooms independently
- Slower to respond than radiators — use smart scheduling
- Proper design is essential for even heat
Mixed systems
Many homes run underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs from one combi boiler. This requires careful design so each circuit gets the right temperature — work for an experienced installer.
This is not a DIY repair
Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
