How to Choose a Combi Boiler Installer in Vancouver
The installer matters as much as the boiler.
The quality of your combi boiler installation affects its efficiency, reliability and lifespan more than the brand you choose. A correctly sized, properly commissioned install by a licensed gas fitter will outperform a premium boiler fitted poorly.
Here's how to choose an installer you can trust.
What to look for
- A licensed BC gas fitter who pulls permits
- A proper heat-loss assessment (not just matching the old unit)
- A written, itemised quote including permits and commissioning
- Manufacturer-trained/authorised for your chosen brand
- Clear warranty terms and after-sales service
- Honest repair-vs-replace advice
Questions to ask
Ask whether the quote includes permits, gas-line work, venting and commissioning; who handles warranty registration; and whether they'll do a heat-loss calculation. Vague answers are a red flag.
This is not a DIY repair
Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
