Troubleshooting
No Heating But Hot Water Works
The mirror image of the no-hot-water fault.
When hot water works perfectly but your radiators stay cold, the heating side of the system is the problem. Frequent causes are a diverter valve stuck toward hot water, a failed circulation pump on the heating circuit, low pressure, or a thermostat/control issue.
Diagnosis and repair of the valve, pump or controls is licensed work.
Common causes
- Diverter valve stuck on hot water
- Failed circulation pump
- Low system pressure
- Thermostat or programmer fault
- Airlock in the heating circuit

Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
