Troubleshooting
Boiler Not Responding to the Thermostat
Sometimes the boiler is fine and the signal isn't getting through.
If your thermostat is calling for heat but the boiler won't fire, the issue may be the thermostat itself (settings, batteries, pairing), the wiring or wireless link between thermostat and boiler, or a control fault in the boiler.
Basic checks like batteries and schedule are homeowner-friendly; wiring and control diagnosis should be done by a technician.
What to check
- Thermostat batteries and display
- Schedule/hold settings and temperature setpoint
- Wireless thermostat pairing/signal
- Fuse or power to the boiler
- Boiler fault code
This is not a DIY repair
Combi boilers are gas-fired appliances regulated under the BC Safety Standards Act. Opening the unit, touching the gas valve, or working on the flue without a valid BC gas-fitter licence is both unsafe and illegal. Diagnosing the fault is helpful — fixing it should always be left to a certified technician.
