Boiler No Heat: Emergency Troubleshooting
No heat from a boiler is often pressure, ignition, a pump or a tripped lockout — here's how to check.
When a boiler stops producing heat, a few checks can restore it; if not, it needs professional repair, especially in winter.
Quick checks
Confirm power and the thermostat, check the boiler pressure gauge (1–1.5 bar cold), and look for an error/lockout code. Re-pressurize via the filling loop if low, and reset once.
When to call
If pressure is fine and it still won't fire, or it locks out repeatedly, call for service. Don't keep resetting a boiler that won't stay running.
Key takeaways
- Check boiler pressure — 1 to 1.5 bar when cold
- Top up via the filling loop if low
- Reset only once
- Note any error code for the technician
